The building of the Cardoner Hotel and Conference Center was given to the Hungarian Order of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1993 as compensation for the Manresa building in Buda, which was taken away by the communist regime in the late 1940s. After that, it became Manresa Hotel run by the Jesuits. Events were regularly organised in the building by the church and church-related organisations.
The current building has undergone a 3-year complete refurbishment to bring it up to modern standards of comfort, both externally and internally. After the complete renovation from 2020 to 2023, the Cardoner Hotel is open to the public and its income is planned to be used for the apostolic purposes of the Order, for the operation of the houses of spiritual formation and social tasks, especially the mission in Arlo.
The founder of Order of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), Ignatius of Loyola had an enlightening experience in the Catalan town of Mansera at the banks of the river „El Cardener”, which he mentions in his piece "The Pilgrim's Journey”.
